Taghazout
We arrived at the coast and decided to visit the famous surf village Taghazout. It is located ca. 19km from Agadir and easy to reach. Its population is small, mostly Berber origin. After a week a lot of people on the street knew our names, just after a visit to the chatty barber. The village consists of a few restaurants, hostels, and surf schools. We decided to attend a surf and yoga class for a week, which was a great experience. The relaxed atmosphere, probably also due to the high number of ´herb´consumption, was just what we needed. The high number of surf spots make you discover the surrounding area.
Essaouira
After the surfing sessions, we decided to finish our month in Morroco with a visit to another coastal city situated on the Atlantic coast: Essaouira earlier known as Mogador. As it is also called the "Windy City" of North Africa, it attracts all kind of lovers of wind and kitesurfing. The smell of spices and ocean accompanies you while walking through the Medina. Go to the port and observe the fishermen preparing their goods and seagulls trying to steal them, succeeding a lot of times.
The old part of the city is full of character and a personal highlight was the daily visit of the market to buy fresh vegetables, fruits, fish and marocain sweets.
